New Folk Club for Worcestershire!

I know I mentioned in my last post, but I would just like to tell you a bit more about our new folk club that myself and Graeme Harvey are hosting. It’s been years since I had anything to do with running a folk club, the last one was the very successful ‘Food & Folk’ near Bromyard, (Herefordshire/Worcestershire) border about twenty years ago, before that it was way back in the 70’s with the Three Magpies, Birmingham, the mid 80’s with ‘The Loony Bin Folk Club’ in Birmingham with my old band mates ‘Back Street Slide’ as residents, and many more in between: The Golden Eagle, Birmingham, Park Hall, Wythall etc. This one is bi-monthly and starts in just over a week’s time on 13th October. The hope is that next year we can book established artists, I already have Kevin Dempsey (ex Whippersnapper, Dando Shaft) in my sights, Kevin, although he gigs all the time rarely comes to this part of Worcestershire, so really looking forward to that.

We have a great line-up for the first night with ‘Red Shoes’ (pic above) from Birmingham, the fabulous ‘Steve Low’ from the band ‘Badge’ (pic below).

Also a duo who have reformed after almost 50 years, (should be interesting) ‘Garth & Abe’ who are originally from Stourbridge, and a fabulous singer of traditional ballads/shanties (and a fine whistle player) ‘Harry Whale’, who incidentally is one of our choir members in ‘Voice Squad’. All floor spots for the first night are booked, but we are taking floor spots for the next club night on 15th December. It all kicks off at 8pm, admission is just £3.50, bring your own drinks and hopefully it’s going to be a fab first night.
See you there!

Much love, Keith & Graeme…
